George Petrides (b. 1964, Athens, Greece)
George Petrides is an internationally recognized sculptor based in Athens and New York, whose work explores the intersections of personal history and cultural heritage. Specializing in public sculpture, Petrides has installed 30 permanent works across seven countries as of December 2025. His institutional placements span the corporate (including Tiffany & Co.), educational, government (including The White House), healthcare, museum, and religious sectors.
Beyond his permanent installations, Petrides is the creator of two world-touring exhibitions. Hellenic Heads: A Personal Exploration of Greek History and Culture toured nine venues across the United States, Turkey, and Europe from 2022 to 2026, reaching an audience of over 100,000 visitors. His latest traveling exhibition, Lineage of Light: One Family, One Century, chronicles four generations of his family from 1922 to 2022. It will be exhibited in the Gulf region, accompanied by a 15-minute documentary.
Raised and educated in Athens and New York, Petrides is deeply rooted in the traditions of Ancient Greek sculpture and the artistic lineages it inspired. His creative process is a unique synthesis of ancient methodology and 21st-century technology; he evolves his works from traditional clay modeling to 3D scanning and digital sculpting, eventually utilizing custom-made machines to 3D print with recycled materials. He finishes each piece through traditional bronze casting or contemporary metal coating.
Petrides earned a Bachelor’s degree in Classics from Harvard College (1985) and dual Master’s degrees from Stanford University (1993). Before dedicating himself to art, he navigated a distinguished career on Wall Street, rising to Managing Director in M&A at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. Having studied and created art part-time for over two decades, he chose to devote himself fully to sculpture in 2017. Today, he is a leading voice in public art, creating works of enduring resonance that merge historical research, personal narrative, and technological innovation.
